Albus (ALB)
Money that lives in a book everyone owns.
A small money system without a bank. Built to learn and to try things out.
The idea
What is this about?
Picture a thick book. It lists every transfer: “Anna gives Ben 5.”
Every player holds a copy of this book. So nobody can change anything in secret. No bank is needed.
Mining
How does money enter the game?
Solve a puzzle
To write a new page in the book, you must first solve a puzzle. A computer does the calculating.
A reward
Whoever solves the puzzle gets 10 Albus. This is called “mining”.
Everyone checks
Anyone can recompute the new page. Nobody has to simply believe anybody.
Your browser tries numbers until the fingerprint starts with zeros.
Flow
How a transfer works
- You send Albus to a friend and sign digitally.
- The computers in the network check the signature.
- One computer writes the transfer onto a new page in the book.
- Everyone else recomputes it. If it checks out, the page goes into every book.
The numbers
Four numbers are enough.
a new page arrives, roughly.
The reward halves about every 2 years.
There will never be more Albus.
Nobody gets money in advance. Everyone starts at zero.
On a PC
And mining on your PC?
There is a small program for Windows. It calculates in the background using the graphics card and the processor.
While you work, it uses only about half the power. During games, or when the PC gets too hot, it takes a break.
Honest
Honestly
- Albus is a learning project. It promises no value and is not an investment.
- Please do not put real money into it.
- Nobody from outside has checked its security yet.
